I just finished reading this cover to cover.It is not easy to grow a YouTube Channel from scratch or learn the whole youtube system.Brian lays it out in a plain and easy to understand format.This is not a book by an already successful youtuber that goes back to reverse engineer their success to put out a book about it. Brian started this channel with the goal of figuring out what works from the git go. He figured out what works and he put it in this book.Let me put it to you this way. You can start from scratch and try to figure out what works to grow a youtube channel on your own or you can read this book and use it as a starting point. For less than $20 you are gaining hundreds of man hours worth of insight that no one is sharing at this level.If you are serious about getting into YouTube buy this book and feed a poodle!SIDE NOTE: To the reviewer that was expecting 100K subs and gave this book a 1 start review - Your review is bogus. The book never promised 100K subs. It shows you didn't even read the full cover.
I like Brian G Johnson. If you're like me and have watched a good number of his YouTube videos than you'll know some of the content of this book already. Brian's quirky personality comes through well in print.Be aware if you want to start a YouTube channel, there is no magic formula for success. It takes hard work and a long time to grow a YouTube channel. At the time I'm writing this the author has 217 videos and 18k subscribers and he's doing everything right in a pretty popular niche.I took off 1 star in my review for book formatting because double-spaced text was used to increase page count. In some places this reads more like a college paper than a professionally edited paperback.
This book was a little more than I wanted to spend, but hey, I know Brian G put a lot of work into it.If you are a new YouTuber and really don't know what to do, this would be a great way to start growing your channel. As a subscriber to Brian G and other similar channels, there is some material in here that I have heard before. However, it is great to have all of the information in one place.I have grown my channel tremendously with the help of Brian G. I read the book cover to cover and put it on my bookshelf waiting to find the right person to give it to, I'd like to help someone else out. In all honesty, it's the first book I have finished reading in about 6 years! lolIf your wanting to learn how to rank your video in search.....give it a read!
Brian is the king of YouTube videos. This is his second book and he is on the money with the uggets delivered here. You should also chek out his first book Trust Funnels. Both of his books offer tons of useful actionable material. Thats the thing I like about Brianis that he delivers tons of actionable material .
When I ordered this book the kindle version wasn't available, I really wish it had been because there is one huge flaw with this book.The illustrations are not in color, but the colors used in thumbnails etc is refereed to and compared... Absolutely silly.Suggest you put ebook up as Matchbook for free to get that fixed :-)The rest of the book I really like, and this is from someone who actually never seen any of your videos, but I will :-) The book was highly recommended by your friend Nick Nimmin, why I got it.The chapter on playlist was a bit weak, but the rest of the book I did like, even if I had to imagine the colors in the illustrations
Brian G Johnson is as funny and entertaining as he is knowledgeable about marketing and YouTube audience building (which is, to say, he’s very funny, very entertaining, and is very knowledgeable about marketing and YouTube audience building).My criticism of the book is on grammar and organization of the content. It reads more like a draft, though perhaps this is only true of the Kindle edition, and not the print edition. If that is the case, save a tree and get the book on Kindle anyway because the knowledge contained therein is worth the sometimes awkwardly phrased electrons.
I learned a ton from this book and I'm putting it to work. The book could be better if it was organized by a professional editor, but if you're able to pick your way through it, you'll find the diamonds in the rough.
